StorPool is a great option for anyone who wants storage server software that is super-fast, very cost effective and among the most efficient on the market. In comparison with other storage software like all-flash arrays or traditional SANs, StorPool is a lot more reliable, a lot more scalable and a lot quicker.

StorPool provides high performance block storage by making the absolute most out of the resources available. Operating at near 100% efficiency, it takes full advantage of all the performance available from the systems drive and network. It also uses its own RDMA network protocol, copy-on-write on-disk format and client. All of which has been fully optimised for delivering efficient and speedy distributed storage.

It works with many different pieces of data in parallel, as it's a distributed system. Performance is high and gets higher with every drive or server that you add.

StorPool's replication mechanism also performs at a high level. The performance of all the drives within the system are aggregated, as data is read and written both to and from drives in parallel.

Only about 5% to 10% of the server resources (CPU & RAM) are used. The remaining resources are put towards compute workloads/running applications on the same nodes. This amazing efficiency puts StorPool among the most efficient storage server software on the market.

  • Snapshots and clones - instantaneous, copy on write (CoW), snapshots and clones.
  • Storage pools - each pool may have a different set of drives assigned. There may be a single pool or multiple pools per cluster. Supports hard drive pools for high capacity use cases, hybrid pools of SSDs and HDDs, and all-SSD pools for high-performance use cases.
  • Storage Quality of Service (QoS), ensures the level of storage performance and SLA's are met. User-configurable per-volume limits of IOPS and MB/s may be set to guarantee that no single user will be able to monopolize the cluster resources.
  • Templates - automate volume creation and management. Reduce space usage.
  • Thin provisioning - allows more storage to be made visible to users than is physically available on the system.
  • Three-way synchronous replication - tuned for high performance, replication level (number of copies), set per volume.
  • TRIM/Discard - data deleted in the upper layers (OS) is also deleted on the underlying drives managed by the StorPool storage system.  This frees up space and also helps with the performance and longevity of SSDs
  • Unique "SSD-Hybrid" - delivers an all-flash level of performance, at close to HDD-only cost. Delivers steady and predictable IOPS & latency metrics for the entire dataset. Flexibility to configure one or two SSD copies on a hybrid pool with triple replication.
  • Zeroes detection - StorPool detects empty blocks of data (ones containing only zeroes) so that they do not occupy any space on the storage system.
